As a true basketball fan….”This is my court” x a Twin Thing, brought tears to my eyes. Once again, its a friendly reminder on how I need to get back hooping.
A very interesting conversation on NBA Countdown about how (historically) African Americans have effected the NBA

Huey P. Newton was born in Monroe, Louisiana, on February 17, 1942, and named for former governor Huey P. Long. In 1966, Newton and Bobby Seale founded the left-wing Black Panther Party for Self Defense. The organization was central to the Black Power movement, making headlines with its inflammatory rhetoric and militaristic style.

I feel the exact same way….I will converse with ANYONE, if the mission is to improve the situation of the world we live in….

First of I would like to say Happy Black History Month and my frustrations that this month entails, well shall I say my ONLY frustration.
I hate it when I am talking to someone “usually of African decent aka black” about Black History Month and they say…”You know its reverse racism right? Because the white man wanted to give us a holiday because of all of the hardships of slavery but they gave us the shortest month” And this is where Professor Manley kicks in.
The choice of having Black History Month didn’t even start out as a month anyway, in 1926 it was originally known as Black History week by the efforts spear headed by Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. They chose the second week in February because it was the birthday of both Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. Two huge contributors to the freedom of African Americans during the 1850s and 1860s, before the Emancipation Proclamation. Due to the Vast reception Black History Week was getting Country wide, in 1976 the Federal government expanded it from a week to an entire month.
So…it’s not about racism my brothers and sisters, its more so about educating ourselves about the truth.
